“24 Hours for the Lord” (2016-03-04)

Friday, March 4 to Saturday, March 5, 2016

Pope Francis wrote in his Bull of Induction of the Jubilee Year of Mercy entitled Misericordiae Vultus,  “The initiative of ’24 Hours for the Lord,’ to be celebrated on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Fourth Week of Lent, should be implemented in every diocese. Let us place the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the center once more in such a way that it will enable people to touch the grandeur of God’s mercy with their own hands. For every penitent, it will be a source of true interior peace.” (no. 17)

What specifically are parishes asked to do during the ‘24 Hours for the Lord’?
24 hours of continuous Eucharistic Adoration
The availability of priests for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during these 24 hours

“May the balm of mercy reach everyone, both believers and those far away, as a sign that the kingdom of God is already present in our midst.” Pope Francis

This is a moment of RENEWAL, a moment of REJUVENATION to get back to CHRIST. The Year of Mercy calls us for a renewed fidelity to Christ, to His Calling and to His Mission. Christ, who blessed all with His healing hands, who absolved sins and genuinely loved sinners; Christ, who consoled and comforted the afflicted by offering His love and hope, WELCOMES ALL with a warm heart to feel the soothing presence of His mercy and compassion. Let’s get charged and thrilled to meet Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and in the Sacrament of Confession. Let’s radiate Christ to others. Let our presence make Christ vibrant. May His mercy transform us.
