CATHOLICS OF AZERBAIJAN CELEBRATE THE FEAST OF RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

The Catholic community of Azerbaijan joyfully and prayerfully celebrated the greatest feast of the Christian faith — the Glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On the eve of the celebration, Holy Saturday, the Easter Vigil Mass was celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The liturgy was presided over by Bishop Vladimir Fekete, Apostolic Prefect of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan, concelebrated by the clergy of the parish. Rich in ancient symbols of light and life, the celebration was held in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English, highlighting the universal nature of the Church and the unity of believers from different cultures.

The Easter Vigil gathered Catholics from across Azerbaijan. Among those present were Bishop Aleksiy of Baku and Azerbaijan, representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the media, and residents of the capital who came to share in the joy of the feast.

On April 5, the day of the Resurrection, a solemn Easter Holy Mass was celebrated in the same church, again presided over by Bishop Vladimir Fekete. Addressing the congregation, he proclaimed the Easter greeting: “Christ is risen! Truly He is risen! This proclamation fills our hearts with hope: the goal of our life is not the grave, but an encounter with Jesus!”

Following the liturgy, a festive tea reception was held in the parish hall.
