BISHOP VLADIMIR FEKETE ON A VISIT TO TASHKENT
The Apostolic Prefect of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan, Bishop Vladimir Fekete, is currently on a visit to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, where the 5th Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Central Asia is taking place.
The Conference of Catholic Bishops of Central Asia (CCBCA) is a permanent body that brings together Catholic bishops of the region and coordinates their pastoral activities. Its members include bishops and ordinaries from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Mongolia.
The plenary assembly opened with a solemn Holy Mass celebrated at the Cathedral of the Apostolic Administration of Uzbekistan — the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tashkent. The liturgy was presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to Kazakhstan, Archbishop George Panamthundil.
Following the common prayer, the participants proceeded to discuss the items on the agenda.
