On this day, in all parishes of the Apostolic Prefecture of Azerbaijan, the Holy Masses will be dedicated to the thanksgiving for the end of the war, the return of the occupied lands and for peace in our country and throughout the South Caucasus. This holiday recalls the day of consecration on November 9, 324 of the basilica in honor of the Most Holy Savior, built by Emperor Constantine. Since a baptistery dedicated to St. John the Baptist was built near the basilica, he became the second patron of the basilica. The Lateran Basilica was a center of the life of the Church for a thousand years. It hosted many Roman synods and five Ecumenical Councils.
