ANNOUNCEMENTS OF THE APOSTOLIC PREFECTURE
- On the 8th of September the Church celebrates the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary. The celebration of this holiday is based on the apocryphal Protoevangelium of James (middle of the 2nd century), according to which the parents of the future Mother of God, Joachim and Anna, remained childless for many years and only in old age, thanks to their prayers and hope in God, they had a daughter, Mary, who was to become the Mother of Jesus Christ. The events that we commemorate while celebrating the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary are both joyful and important from a theological point of view. They are joyful, because the most beautiful girl comes into the world – “the most true cherub and the most glorious seraphim without comparison.” They are theologically important, because they anticipate Her Motherhood – the Motherhood of the One from Whom βthe Sun of Truth, Christ our God, has shone forth.β Where the morning dawn has already risen, the sun should soon appear.
