ANNOUNCEMENTS OF THE APOSTOLIC PREFECTURE
- On September 14th the Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Cross. The cross is a symbol of Christ’s victory over death and evil. In Jerusalem, since the 5th century, the day after the consecration of the Church of the Resurrection, that is, September 14 was dedicated to the veneration of the cross. From this tradition a special feast arose which spread throughout the Church.
Schedule of the Holy Masses of the Feast:
in the Church of the Immaculate Conception – at 07.00 in English, at 19:00 in Russian; in the parish of St. John Paul II – at 19:00 in Russian.
Next week, the Apostolic Prefect of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan, Bishop Vladimir Fekete will visit the capital of Kazakhstan, the city of Nursultan, to participate in the VII CONGRESS OF LEADERS OF WORLD AND TRADITIONAL RELIGIONS. In the frameworks of the Congress, His Holiness Pope Francis will visit Kazakhstan. On the first day of the visit, on September 13, Pope Francis will meet with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with representatives of the authorities, the public and the diplomatic corps. The next day, September 14, the Roman Pontiff will take part in the work of the VII Congress of the Leaders of World Religions and lead the celebration of the Holy Mass with the people on the territory of the International Exhibition Center “Expo”.
