Bishop Vladimir Fekete: “May the Holy Spirit help us become the gift of Christ for our loved ones, for this city and the country!”

Bishop Vladimir Fekete: “May the Holy Spirit help us become the gift of Christ for our loved ones, for this city and the country!”

On June 8, the Catholic Church celebrated the Solemnity of the Descent of the Holy Spirit – Pentecost. On this day, Christians remember and spiritually relive the New Testament event: the fulfillment of the promise of Jesus Christ that after his Resurrection and Ascension to Heaven, God will send His disciples the Comforter, Who is the Spirit of God Himself and Who will teach the apostles what is impossible to know by the efforts of the human mind alone, namely, the Mystery of the Incarnation, Life, Cross, Death and Resurrection of the God-Man – Jesus Christ. The Day of the Descent of the Holy Spirit is also considered the birthday of the Church, in which the Spirit of God lives, which He teaches and guides for more than two thousand years.
The solemn Holy Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary was led by the Apostolic Prefect of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan, Bishop Vladimir Fekete.
Welcoming the congregation, Bishop Vladimir Fekete called on the faithful of the Church in Azerbaijan to pray fervently for the gift of the Holy Spirit, so that “we may live in this world as witnesses of Jesus Christ, so that the Spirit of God may fill our hearts and we may gain confidence in the love of God, and by the power of the Holy Spirit become a gift for our loved ones, for this city and country!”
On the day of Pentecost, Bishop Vladimir Fekete also performed the Sacrament of Confirmation.
